Sciatica is a very painful illness that can strike almost anyone anytime but more often is a result of a fall, heavy lifting or the deterioration over time of the discs and a combination of the formentioned.
It is a result of the sciatic nerve which runs from Lumbar 4 and 5 vertebrae getting compressed or pinched as it is leaving the spine to go to the lower leg.
Pain
It can cause shooting, dull, or hot pain which can also make parts of the body numb, as in the feet.
How to recover
Heat on the lumbar region is a remedy that eases the pain if done regularly.
Massage on the muscles in the lower back and buttock region helps to release the tension which may then release the pressure on the disc which is causing the pinch in the nerve.
Stretches and yoga asana are a powerful way to recover as they relax the muscles and restore normality in the muscular and skeletal system.
Essentially the space in the disc and the balance of the disc in the spine must be restored to its normal place. Each disc must be balanced evenly on the one below. It it is lopsided it often causes problems and pain.
